Blackphone: World’s Most Secure Phone gets rooted in 5 minutes at DEF CON

Blackphone is a custom version of Android called PrivatOS that boasts both security and privacy as its top feature was rooted within a couple of minutes at the DEF CON Hacking Conference at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Recently, Blackphone has aimed to be the World’s first smartphone to put privacy and control ahead everything else.

If you are reading the Blackphone for the first time, it is a Tegra 4i-powered smartphone that runs a custom Android version called PrivatOS and is mainly focused over security OS based on Android KitKat. The 21st-century secure smartphone describes themselves “an unparalleled product ideal for people who recognize a need for privacy and want a simple, secure place to start.”

One of the event’s highlight comes from the @TeamAndIRC named Justin Case who has able to gain root access and enable ADB on the device without unlocking the phone’s bootloader in just five minutes.

According to Case, the exploit has now been partially fixed and it’s not exploitable without user intent, that’s still quite an issue for a smartphone that specializes on privacy and security.

Blackphone will be priced at $629 goes with an updated and will be fully patched over the issue to enhance its security.
But after this ‘Security Issue’, it is no longer news when it happens again ‘it’s EXPECTED!’ but if the device can’t be rooted that’s more news than one that can be rooted.
